Hi all!
Some more members have joined in the last month, so let’s hear a big Kemsing Tennis Club welcome to Andy, Avril, Lisa, Miles, Colin, Dominic, David, Helen, Ben, Oliver, Natasha, Callum, Ella and Marc!!!!
It’s coaching for the Mixed Teams on Monday evening, 7.30, £5. If you were one of Sue’s Chosen Ones last time around, and too many want to be coached tomorrow, Sue has asked that you stand aside for someone who wasn’t one of her Chosen Ones last time….make sense? Not really, but all will no doubt be alright on the night!
At a recent meeting of your Committee, the old chestnut of team selection was raised. So for the forthcoming Winter Leagues (Winter? Already?!) we are going to have three “assessment evenings”. That sounds awfully grand, but if you wish to be considered for a team, please come along to at least one of the evenings if you can, between 7.30 and 9.30, and introduce yourself to the team captains and play some great tennis! This invitation is open to all Senior, Intermediate, Mid-week and “Senior/Junior” Members, not just those who usually go along to team practise on Monday nights. Oh, and please bring a fiver… he doesn’t know it yet, but we are hoping to persuade Dan, Dan the Davis Cup Man to give us coaching through the evening, and then he will assist the team captains in making their squad selections. That way, when Mens I lose all their matches, at least we can blame Dan! The assessment evenings are to be the Monday nights of the 25th June, 2nd and 9th July, (so not tomorrow night, but the following three Mondays). Of course, if you can’t make any of those nights, but still wish to be considered for a team, all is not lost, just let me know.
This weekend saw the Mixed I team lose, but Ladies II won today in a 6 sets to 4 thriller. Ladies III was postponed, and I haven’t yet heard how Mens II got on. Next weekend, Mens I have their final match of the season, which is a must-win game, at home, 10.30 start. All support welcome. Ladies II and Mens II have away games.
We hope that the builders are returning to the Clubhouse to carry out some items of snagging over the next few days, and another lot of builders are booked in for the 2nd July for about 10 days, doing some structural work in the roof space etc. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused. If they give you any problems or start wolf whistling at you, please let me know (especially if it is the Monday Morning Senior Mens four that they are whistling at… I’ll buy the builders some stronger glasses!)
A reminder of the Junior Tournament coming up on the 1st July, 4-6pm, and Open Tournament on the 14th. Also, a gentle reminder (the first of many?!?) to play your Club Tournament matches, please. I don’t think anyone has played a match, yet, so Ewen, if you are reading this, I’m mentally preparing myself for our big game!
